Yes, there are vapes in Brazil.
Although Brazil has banned the sale, import and promotion of vapes, or e-cigarettes, since 2009, the product is still available for purchase in the country. According to surveys, most vape users can still buy the product in tobacco shops, convenience stores, newsstands, supermarkets and online stores.
Vaping use is on the rise in Brazil. A survey shows that 20% of Brazilians aged 18 to 24 are using vapes. Across the entire population, the proportion is low, 7.3%.
The Brazilian government's attitude toward vaping is ambivalent. In contrast, the government banned the sale of vapes and warned of their potential stockpiles. On the other hand, the government also acknowledges that vapes may be healthier than traditional cigarettes.
Brazil is considering legalizing e-cigarettes, or vaping. If the proposal is approved, Brazil would become the first South American country to legalize e-cigarettes, or vaping.
