I can be considered half an industry person. I started using real cigarettes in 2012 for four years and quit smoking for one year. Later, around 2017, I started using vape. At first it was a large smoke atomizer with oil storage and dripping. Then transition to a more convenient pod vape, from filling the vape to reloading the cartridge. The vape has a five-year lifespan. I also know some vape practitioners. The dangers of cigarettes are commonplace: carcinogens and second-hand smoke. Let’s talk about vape. Those who advocate that vaping is harmless can basically confirm that it is nonsense.
First of all, as an atomized product, it must be harmful to organs such as the throat. The amount of damage caused varies depending on the frequency of use. Compared with cigarette smoke, vape atomization produces more flavor smoke and the number of puffs is also greater, which is bound to cause irritation to the throat. If you smoke too much, your throat will hurt, your tonsils may become inflamed, and you may have phlegm. Secondly, there is the fragrance, which is actually harmful to the human body. But after the new national standard, the amount of flavors has also been controlled. Currently, the number of vape additives has been reduced from 122 to 101. The popcorn lung incident actually has no reference significance. It mainly comes from heredity and pathology. Even when it comes to the issue of ingesting flavors, there is always a question of intake and events that need to be discussed. Finally, there is nicotine salt. Small cigarettes are different from big cigarettes. In order to achieve the purpose of being strong enough, nicotine salt is added, which is a salt-alkali substance that can increase the intake.
It can be understood that a person can originally consume 20mg of nicotine per day, but with this nicotine salt, he can consume the equivalent of 50mg of nicotine. The specification under the new national standard is less than or equal to 2%. (The current salt-alkali content of RELX's new national standard is 1.8, before it was generally 3%-5%) This is also the reason why subsequent products are bland and not strong enough. This can cause some physical discomfort, which of course varies from person to person. Some people have better physical adaptability and less harm. If the ability to adapt is weak, discomfort will occur. Symptoms that vary from person to person include difficulty breathing and palpitations. What most people have is insomnia. Secondly, nicotine will affect wound healing. It is recommended that if you have a wound, try not to smoke.
If there is no tar in real cigarettes, vape will indeed not be much less harmful than real cigarettes without controlling additives. But as the old saying goes, to talk about toxicity without talking about dose is to be a hooligan. By objective comparison, the harm of the new national standard vape is only 5 to 10% of that of real cigarettes. On a side note, vape can also cause some damage to teeth, making it more likely to cause tooth decay. It may be fragrance residue, or it may be destruction of oral flora. Non-smoking advice is to avoid both.
Suggestions for smoking vape: It is best not to use it in the morning and evening, as it can easily disrupt the biological clock. Control the amount you use, about one cartridge every three days. If you use more, it means it’s too much. Choose genuine smoking accessories and cartridges from regular channels. Drink plenty of water at ordinary times. Electronic atomization liquid will take away some moisture from the mouth. Timely replenishing water can also reduce the damage of flavors. For those who smoke real cigarettes, I don’t have any suggestions. I don’t smoke real cigarettes now either.
